Hello there all!

First of all I just want to say that I am new to this Forum so let me thank you in advance for welcoming me in! So let me tell you a little bit about my story. My name is Troy and I am a 31 year old male. I have been sick for almost a year now (since November of 2007). When I first started having problems the doctors thought it was Crohn's or UC. Well, I have several tests done and nothing really showed up. So I continued to go back and forth to the doctor. Finally, I was referred to a GI specialist at John's Hopkins and I had my first appointment with her a month ago. She told me that she definitely believes that I have IBS but she wanted to do a Fat Fecal Test first to rule some things out. She said if that comes back okay then at my next appointment she will diagnose me with IBS. So, I will officially be diagnosed with IBS on September 22nd.

My question is, once you are diagnosed is there a certain plan (as far as diet, medicine...etc) that they put you on to help control it? And my other question is, does having IBS affect your eyesight? One of the questions my doctor asked me was if I was having trouble seeing and I said yes. And it is getting worse. Like if I am to text message someone I have to hold the phone up to my face in order to see it and I am also to the point where I don't drive at night anymore. Has anyone else had that problem?

I cannot wait to hear everyone's advice and let e just say that it is nice to find a forum where everyone is going through the same thing, and I don't feel as alone in this. :-)

Take care,
Troy
